Usually the February Pipeline is all about Valentine's Day, sharing things with the people you love and all that romantic crap. Since the Super Bowl falls on the first weekend of the second month this year, we get to talk a bit about football one more time before hanging it up until next fall. As I write this, the city of Philadelphia is preparing for what could be their first major sports title in two decades. They face a team that is looking for its third Super Bowl win in four years in the Patriots and with or without TO, the Eagles are going to have their hands full on Sunday. Since I like both teams it is hard to say who I want to win. Instead I will just make a strictly football-based prediction. Look for another victory parade in Boston. (They have suddenly become Title Town.) Put me on the record for a New England win, 24-14.
As usual the big January happening was the Adult Entertainment Expo held once again in Las Vegas. Rather than peppering this column with snippets, I will file a complete report separately. Suffice it say it was another very popular event with fans of adult entertainment. They jammed the aisles looking for photos, autographs and to get close to their favorite performers. I did my part, taking plenty of shots with Aurora Snow as I passed out the 2004 Rog Reviews Awards. I also collected a number of great interviews including sit downs with Teagan Presley, Keri Sable, Jesse Jane, Nautica Thorn, Mari Possa and Patrick Collins. Stay tuned for those.
Fans of Julie Night, and I know she has a lot of them; will be very happy to note that she has finally opened her own web site. Perhaps more importantly, it will team Jesse Jane with Carmen Luvana for the first time. These two blonde superstars will be the main attraction for what is sure to be one of the most talked about adult movies of 2005.
Carmen Luvana has signed up for another year as an Adam & Eve contract star. The 2003 Best New Starlet winner will star in the aforementioned "Pirates" as well as twelve other projects over the next year. In addition to being all over the company web site, promotions and boxcovers, the Puerto Rican bombshell will also be taking someplace new this year. Her upcoming project "The Perfect Secretary" will include her anal defloration. (Let's hope she can convince Jesse to follow suit when they work together.)
In perhaps the biggest news out of Porn Valley since the HIV outbreak last spring, charges against Extreme Associates and Rob Black have been dismissed. The most publicized obscenity case in recent history is not necessarily behind us yet, but the decision by U.S. District Court Judge Gary Lancaster may be the first step towards avoiding future such cases. Judge Lancaster made the dismissal on the grounds that obscenity laws are unconstitutional. Black was thrilled, stating "This is the greatest news I've ever had." Adding "I've made fucking history." Though his jubilation may be premature, the decision is being applauded throughout Porn Valley. The Government may still appeal this decision and continue the fight, but this must be seen as a victory and perhaps the first step towards increased personal freedom.
Silvia Saint is one of the most popular European girls to ever grace the blue screen. She blew us away with an amazing combination of great looks, a fantastic body and a sexual energy that far outshines most of her peers. After reaching the top of the porn world, Silvia returned home a few years ago and has been in semi-retirement ever since. Now she is back, and starring in "Porn Angels" from Black Magic. Lexington Steele got some good news in court this month. With the help of attorney Holly Pranger, Steele got his domain www.lexingtonsteele.com back from cyber squatters who have held it for years. Russian Communications had held the name and were running a site advertising adult products while using Steele's likeness. The victory was won through the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the National Arbitration Forum. This victory could spell good news for adult performers who have been fighting cyber-squatters for years.
Britney does porn! Yeah, I know that is news that you all want to hear. Sadly it is not that Britney we're talking about. X-Play, the production company owned by Jeff Mullen and Scott David has entered into a distribution deal with LFP's VCA label for the debut of 'Britney Rears'. The lovely young starlet will make her debut on March 8th with the release of "Britney Rears: Wild Back Stage Sex Party." It is a backstage look at superstars doing what superstars do. With plenty of mainstream publicity already, including a strong mention on Howard Stern's show, the movie is sure to be the new water-cool porn topic. It is also quietly likely that Britney Spears may weigh in with some legal muscle before the movie comes out. As for her own porn future, we can still hope for some X-Rated Spears action. It may take a decade though. (Hey, if Debbie Gibson and do Playboy, anything is possible.)
Last but not least, it is time to announce the winners of the fourth annual RRCC Awards. Jules Jordan was the biggest winner this year, taking home three awards. His "Flesh Hunter 2" took home the award for Best All Sex Movie. Jordan also nabbed Best DVD for "Invasian" and took home his second RRCC award as Best Director. Wicked's "Eye of the Beholder" took home the prize for Best Feature, marking the first win for Wicked in the RRCC. Digital Playground's Teagan Presley was named Best Newbie, beating out a very strong field. Erik Everhard won for a second consecutive year as Best Male, joining Lexington Steele as two-time winners of the award. For the fourth consecutive year, Aurora Snow walked away with the award as Best Female Performer. The Sin City contract girl remains the only winner of this award and the only performer to have won Best Female Performer and Best Newbie in the same year.
