As I write to you from SoCal, I am stunned by what I see. Yes my friends, it is raining in Southern California and raining hard. If these storms keep up, then half of Porn Valley could be underwater before long. The record-setting rainfall isn't a lot of fun and it doesn't have me in much of a Spring-time mood, but it has left me a lot of time to check out what's new on DVD and to cover some of the more interesting stories from the world of smut. Braving the rain and the constant threat of being swarmed under by adoring fans, several of porn's brightest stars showed up for the FOXE (Fans of X-Rated Entertainment) awards. I wasn't able to attend this year's ceremonies as I was having a blast in Vegas, however the FOXE voters did something that AVN couldn't, they got the Best Starlet award right. Teagan Presley was picked for that one and I couldn't agree with them more. They also named Lexington Steele as favorite male performer. It was his third win and per FOXE rules, he is now ineligible to win it again. Maybe next year my invitation won't get 'lost' and I'll be able to cover the event.
Hustler video has undergone some serious changes over the last few months. Kat Slater has taken over as head of production. Her official title is "Creative Director of Hustler Video and VCA" but that's a mouthful. Kat is no stranger to Hustler of course, directing a number of lines for the company during her four years in the adult entertainment business. She will oversee a complete overhaul of Hustler's video productions. Current plans include splitting the production into four different lines. Hustler Gold will be mostly European-shot projects directed by Denis Marti. Hustler Video will encompass the many "Barely Legal" lines and will be hard-core gonzo in nature. VCA will still handle the features while the VCA gonzo label X-Cessive will be beefing up production as well. Look for some big moves from Hustler and a lot of new directors to come into the fold in the next few months.
Wicked Pictures has announced a special 30 day sale that will help benefit victims of the December 26th tsunami. They are offering distributors special sales on several of their premium titles. At the end of the month Wicked will donate 10% of the gross sales to the relief effort. It is always nice to see porn companies doing their part to help those in need. Anyone who has been watching porn since the early 90's knows that Michael Ninn is a true pioneer. His work for VCA included such ground-breaking classics as "Shock" and "Sex." He was one of the first to mix computer animation with hard-core sex and the visual style he brought to the world of adult films is legendary. Ninn's latest movie however, breaks new ground in a very different way. "NEO_PORNOGRAPHIA" is a total turn by Ninn to the dark side. The director compared his new flick to a "Bad car wreck you can't take your eyes off of. As hard as you try, you just look totally numb to what you are viewing but totally aware of what are you seeing" The movie features spoon-fed cum shots, double vag and even a triple-anal with Julie Night. Triple anal? Yeah we'll have to wait and see how Julie managed that one. One thing is for certain. Last month I made a bold Super Bowl prediction with New England winning 24-14 I didn't do too badly on that one as the Pats won 24-21.
