Welcome to the New Year everyone. I trust you all had a wonderful time ringing in 2005 with the ones you love. As you read this I will be on my way to Las Vegas for the Adult Expo and AVN Awards Show. There is always plenty to write about after that, but the end of the year was particularly slow for news. With everyone gearing up for the show, even the usual press releases were slow this month. Rather than scrounging through those for good stories, let's take a look back at the year that was and hit the highlights. For those of you who may have missed a month here or there this will be a good chance to catch up on the stories that made 04 so much fun. First, let's do this month's news and then we can go for the 04 rewind.
Before we even get to the porn, I want to take a moment to remember those who have lost so much recently. The tsunami has already claimed the lives of over 120,000 people and the destruction is unlike anything I've ever seen. I hope everyone will join me in sending your prayers and good thoughts to those who have lost so much and to the people doing all they can to help. Seymore Butts just keeps adding to his resume. After years in the porn business as a pioneer in the art of gonzo smut, Seymore turned to Showtime for his own reality TV show "Family Business." Now it's time to take the next step and star in a mainstream film. Ironically enough, Seymore will be playing a cop in the upcoming "Slaughter Party." They kept him in familiar territory though, letting him chase bikini-clad babes through the desert. (Of course in his own movies Seymore actually gets to fuck the cuties when he catches them.) Mary Carey has done plenty to garner headlines off camera. First the busty blonde ran for Governor of California and now she's trying to win an award as a Good Samaritan. This has been a pretty big month for female directors. First Mandy Bright was named head of productions for the newly-formed Mercenary Europe. The beautiful star will direct exclusively for ME though she will continue to performer for other companies. Super slut Loni also gets her shot behind the camera, co-directing with David Aaron Clark on Video Team's "No Man's Land: Asian Edition" and on a feature called "Record." Digital Playground also joined the fun, inking Celeste (Formerly Bunny Luv) to an exclusive directing deal. She has worked closely with DP director Robby D and gives Digital Playground their first female presence behind the camera.
Sin City is also getting into the comic book business. Their first release "Sin City Angels" features SC contract girls Aurora Snow, Hannah Harper and Shay Sweet as sexy crime fighters who turn into angels with the utterance of a magic word and then basically fuck and suck their way out of any situation. The book is being released by Eros comics. It is penned by famed S&M Artist and comic writer Pretorious. The book can be found on www.eroscomix.com
After a less-than-stellar review of his movie "Balls Deep 8", director Tony T decided that he wanted to speak up. In a series of emails that are quite uncharacteristic for anyone associated with Anabolic or Diabolic, Tony promised to take up his displeasure with me personally in Las Vegas. Hopefully he will calm down before then and won't follow through on his promise to hit me while I'm sitting down for interviews at the Anabolic/Diabolic booth, but that's all up to him. Oh well, someone wants to kick my ass, it must be time for the holidays.

Wicked and XXX Trading Card Limited have partnered for a series of X-rated trading cards featuring their contract stars Stormy, Devinn Lane, Jessica Drake and Kaylani Lei. The first series will be released on January 6th for the Adult Expo. The set of 100 cards feature Up Close and Personal, Award Winners. Hot Scenes and special Jenna Jameson Anthology cards. Tera Patrick fans will have plenty to cheer about later this month when her new Vivid title "Reign of Tera" is released on the 19th. The movie is directed by and co-stars Tera's full time man Spyder Jonez. In the film, Tera plays the owner of an all-Asian brothel and must choose between becoming a working girl herself of falling in love with Jonez. Joining Tera in the film are 14 of the hottest Asian babes in the business, making this a sure hit with Asian lovers as well as Tera fans.
After two years with DVSX, director Bryan Xin is a free agent. The man behind the camera for TNT, TNA, ANAL and Total Babe sat down for an interview last month and is said to be weighing his options carefully. Apparently the split was a mutual decision and entirely amicable. Wherever he ends up, boob and butt fans can be sure that they will see plenty of hot movies in the future.

January
The year kicked off with the big show in Vegas and there was plenty of excitement. Tera Patrick found a new home with Vivid, Red Light District chugged on without Lexington Steele and Dion Giarusso and Anabolic re-aligned their roster in hopes of finding their next front line director. The USC Trojans celebrated a Rose Bowl victory and shared the national championship with LSU. Aurora Snow, Joey Silvera, Erik Everhard and Loni collected Rog Reviews Critic's Choice awards. Shyla Styz was showing off her new tits at the AEE and hinting at a comeback. Ron Jeremy was getting plenty of screen time on "The Surreal Life" and Bisexual Britni made a comeback scene with porn legends Jewel De'Nyle, Ginger Lynn and Teri Wiegel.
February
Evil Angel added highly touted director Jonni Darkko to their already stellar roster. The 40th annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue hit the stands amid the usual chorus of protests. AVN kicked off campaign 2004 by calling the election the most important ever for the adult industry. San Francisco 49'er wide receiver Terrell Owens found out that he was not a free agent thanks to some sloppy paperwork. (He would be traded shortly after to the Philadelphia Eagles.) The long-rumored Paris Hilton sex video finally surfaced on the web. At fifty dollars per download, Rick Solomon cleaned up with his web site, www.trustfundgirls.com. It seems that everyone wanted to see the blonde heiress doing the nasty.
March
Rog made some baseball picks that didn't come true. (Yankees over the Cubs in the Series, not this year.) Ariana Jollee followed up her appearance in "Gang Bang Girl 35" with her first IR scene in Mason's "Riot Sluts." Justin Slayer left Exquisite for Evil Angel. Andre Madness went out on his own, launching Madness Pictures. Rumors began to circulate that Janine was ready to make a comeback and would end her veggie-only policy on screen with Lexington Steele. That rumor would prove to be only half true and the big Janine comeback would be upstaged by a huge HIV outbreak.
April
The porn world was rocked by a serious HIV outbreak that shut down production for a several months. Performer Darren James was considered patient zero and before it was through, the outbreak infected at least three female co-stars. This wasn't exactly the kind of mainstream coverage the industry was looking for, but the media was all over the story for weeks. Janine did make her boy/girl debut, but was so badly upstaged that few people noticed. Guy Capo left Evolution and was a free agent for a short while before landing at DVSX. Rob Black and Larry Flynt got into a war of words over Rob's legal defense fund and both assured us that the sky was going to fall if George W. Bush won a second term. Kylie Ireland ended up at Platinum X and shed her girl next door image to show us all that she is every bit the whore we always hoped she could be. The FTC ruled against sexually explicit spam. It was suppose to end those annoying ads. Yeah, right.
May
Jay Ashley signed with Madness instead of Mayhem, leading people to wonder why. Michael Moore hit France for the Cannes Film Festival. As an apology to the people of France, we also sent Jesse Jane to counter Moore's boorish act with her amazing beauty. Careena Collins surfaced again for another comeback and Ginger Lynn proved she still liked them big in Jewel De'Nyle's "Size Queens." Tera Patrick's first Vivid feature "Tera, Tera, Tera" hit the shelves at the same time Vivid put up billboards of Jenna and Tera in Hollywood. Aurora Snow re-signed with Sin City for another two year, making me want to become their first contract guy. ABC re-edited their hack-job interview with Belladonna and used it as part of a piece that blasted the industry for the HIV situation.
June
Sharon Mitchell testified at the Orange County gang rape trial, backing up defense claims that the drunken violation of the underage victim was staged as part of the growing "passed out" porn fetish market. At LA Erotica, I talked with Gen Padova about her comeback after a bout with cancer. She is perfectly fine, though at least one of her potential co-stars was worried about catching it from her. JKP contract girl Cindy Crawford challenged Mr. Marcus to break her on-screen IR cherry though nothing has come of that yet. Survivor alum Jenna Lewis followed the Paris Hilton business model and released her sex video as a download on the web. Not many people noticed. Paris herself was officially on video as Red Light District released the full Paris fuck-flick on "One Night in Paris." The DVD was highly successful and rumors of other Paris trysts have been rampant on the web ever since. The demise of the LA Lakers began after the Detroit Pistons crushed them in the NBA finals.
July
Hannah Harper re-signed with Sin City, joining Aurora Snow for another two years. Lance Armstrong won a sixth consecutive Tour De France. Private slimmed down their boxes, giving smut lovers everywhere more room on their shelves to build a good collection of hot Euro-babes. Britney Spears got hitched and it lasted more than a weekend and the new Rog Rules T-Shirts were unveiled. Few recipients ever posed in theirs and even fewer fans purchased the gear.
August
Both political parties held their conventions and nearly everyone in the country left feeling that their guy was still the right guy. Selena Silver and KSEX had a bit of a flap. Super rookie Teagan Presley signed with Digital Playground and got her boobs pumped up. Ashley Blue picked up an XRCO Award to go along with her AVN statue as the best female performer and Carmen Luvana announced that Vincent Vega would be the first to fuck her tight little ass on camera.
September
Storms hit the Florida coast and Cal/OSHA swooped down on Porn Valley looking for blood. They fined TTB Productions and let it be known that they would be watching very closely for future violations. (Which include all non-condom sex scenes by the way.) Serenity officially retired from adult movies and announced that she would soon give birth to her first child. Ben English went to work for New Sensations and toy lovers everywhere were given a treat when the Lexington Steele molds were announced. Against all odds, the Boston Red Sox finally won a World Series giving everyone a very chilly feeling on the soles of their feet.
October
Ben Dover moved from VCA to Kick Ass Pictures. Bridgette Kerkove, Serenity and Wendi Knight all prepared to give birth with Belladonna not too far behind. Video team lost David Aaron Clark to Madness and Van Styles to Hustler in the same month. Shane made a return to the adult world, behind the camera while Stormy became Wicked's first virtual reality girl with the release of "The Perfect Stormy." Against all odds, the Boston Red Sox finally won a World Series giving everyone a very chilly feeling on the soles of their feet.
November
George Bush won re-election and most of Porn Valley was ready to throw themselves off a cliff. John Ashcroft announced his resignation and it too all of two point three seconds for the industry mouthpieces to name his successor as an even bigger threat to the porn world. AVN announced their nominations, including one of the best "Starlet" fields ever. At the same time, the Female Performer list was perhaps the least spectacular in recent history, pointing to a rather bland year all around. Vivid signed two new girls, Lexi Marie and Monique Alexander and everyone nearly died of heart failure when it was announced that both would do guys on film. Steve Drake, Lee Stone and Domina X landed at Mayhem, Madness and Hustler respectively.
